The Fragmented Self

The Fragmented Self by Vikash Kalra is an original contemporary portrait exploring identity, perception, and the layers that shape human experience. Fragmented forms, expressive marks, and a textured surface allow the face to emerge from a complex field of color and visual impressions.

Cool blues, turquoise, grey, green, and white contrast with orange, burgundy, and deep black, while energetic brushwork, scraped passages, and layered paint emphasize the handmade character of the work. The result is a contemporary abstract portrait that rewards close viewing.
